Every day, we’re inundated with criticisms of the creators of AI, depicting them as awful and arrogant. News outlets and social media platforms constantly barrage us with articles highlighting AI’s purported theft of artists’ wages and the notion that writers are becoming disinterested in their craft because AI can “write for them.” There’s a palpable fear that AI will ultimately restrict opportunities. However, the crux of the matter lies in considerations of cost, time, and energy.

As a writer with minimal sketching skills, I’m hesitant to hire a sketch artist for every article, poem, or book I produce. The current economic climate doesn’t favor independent writers’ dollars.

Opponents of AI might argue that we should either pay for sketches or invest time in learning how to draw. However, time is a crucial factor here.

While I personally don’t rely on AI for any aspect of my writing — I’m confident in my skills — I understand why some writers turn to AI for artistic endeavors.
