Thank You For Waking Me Up
A ‘Smile Bomb’ from the anime Yu Yu Hakusho and the wider implications of the lyrics
Anime nights just got better with watching classics like Colour Cloud Palace, Rurouni Kenshin, and now Yu Yu Hakusho. I’ve heard great things about this classic 90s anime, but was unprepared for how amazing and profound the opening song would be.
Story: Yu Yu Hakusho is about Yurameshi Yusuke, a middle schooler who gets hit by a car trying to save a child, but he dies in the process. He is then resurrected as a spirit detective, complete with spiritual power and of course like most anime, he makes friends along the way who are foes, demons, and other. The show gets 10 stars from me, and I wanted it to continue forever.
Running in a crowd, in a faceless town
I need to feel the touch of a friend
In the countryside, I wander far and wide
The isolation gets me again
