Is The Legend of Orisha Series Worth Reading?
We looked for something different and now we have it
You’ve seen the cover of the beautiful, magical-looking dark skinned girl. The one with silver eyes and silver hair. People say never judge a book by its cover but it is the cover that was so well thought out, the idea that the book might not be good never crossed my mind.
In the land of Orisha, magic has disappeared. There is no guarantee that it will ever return. One girl named Zelie, is a maji with beautiful silver eyes and silver hair. She is a Reaper and the fate of Orisha rests in her hands.
One day, she learns the truth about how her people acquired the power of the gods, and unfortunately in the wrong hands, it can give the wicked even more power over them.
I don’t know what it is, but as I read about analog Orisha, I thought of America and black people's relation to our land. In the fantasy, Zelie must fight to take back what rightfully belongs to her people. Oddly enough, the Monarchy steeped in hatred and unforgiveness — has power. An unusual kind that hurts Zelie and her people.
