A Day In The Life Of A Type 2 Diabetic In 2024
Hopefully, this scares anyone into better health and living
The person I was has passed away, and in the year since my Type 2 Diabetes diagnosis, the new me has adapted. Managing this condition is challenging due to the stigma, depression, and fear of future complications. However, by sharing my daily experiences, I hope to provide a realistic insight into the consequences of not being mindful of carbohydrate intake.
Morning
7:00/8:00 am — I wake up, stretch, and yawn before reaching for my diabetic kit, which includes a lancer (similar to a hard syringe or needle), lancets, alcohol wipes, and a glucometer.
I clean my finger with an alcohol wipe, prick it with a lancet, and let the blood drop onto the glucometer strip.
I close my eyes and hope the number is below 130 mg/dL. If it’s not, I’ll be concerned all day.
8:00a.m.–10:30a.m. — Since I’m not working, I dedicate time to journaling, reading, or engaging in five to ten-minute stretches to start the day off right.
Afternoon
10:30a.m to Noon- If I am fasting( to keep my glucose/sugar levels stable), then I will not eat until noon or 1pm. I take my blood pressure pill for hypertension.
